Lorenz Meters, a German family-owned manufacturer of more than 1 million water meters a year, needed fact-based proof of the environmental and economic performance of its emerging circular business model. Facing gaps in lifecycle quantification, life cycle costing (LCC) insights and identification of improvement potential, Lorenz Meters partnered with Sphera for sustainability consulting and comparative life cycle assessment (LCA) services.
Sphera performed comparative LCAs and LCC analyses, applied an evaluation matrix to assess remanufacturing suitability, and delivered a practical 6‑Step Plan to scale the circular model. The work gave Lorenz Meters robust, science-based evidence of benefits: circular product solutions showed over 90% lower carbon footprint and about 50% cost reduction (including staged payback), plus data-driven insights for design optimization and further circular business development — all delivered by Sphera.
