FATER and Eco-design Tool Making environmental sustainability a top priority

Fater, an Italian consumer goods company and joint venture of Procter & Gamble and the Angelini Group, faced the challenge of assessing the environmental impact of existing and new products, embedding eco-design in product development, quantifying use-phase emissions, and supporting marketing claims with easy-to-understand, fact-based indicators. To address these needs Fater partnered with Sphera, leveraging Sphera’s Sustainability Consulting and the GaBi LCA software and database to develop a dedicated eco-design tool for its laundry and cleaning product lines.

Sphera built an LCA-based eco-design tool that identifies emissions hotspots, quantifies reduction potential, and translates complex LCA results for non-experts, directly supporting Fater’s R&D and communication strategies. As a result, Fater can now measure environmental performance across product life cycles, perform scenario analyses, produce quantitative comparisons between product generations, embed LCA results in product development, and deliver transparent, fact-based sustainability claims to the market.
