BT Sourced, the standalone procurement arm of BT Group, needed to digitize and scale supply chain risk management across a multi‑billion GBP global sourcing operation spanning 180 countries. Facing requirements for responsible and diverse sourcing, greater sub‑tier visibility, cybersecurity and ESG monitoring, BT Sourced selected Sphera and its cloud SaaS Sphera Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) to make risk management digital, intuitive and operationally efficient.

Sphera implemented SCRM modules—including Risk Radar, Impact Analyzer, Action Planner, mobile apps and sub‑tier visibility—on a phased rollout starting September 2021, with all global divisions onboard by mid‑2022. The platform delivered real‑time AI‑driven alerts, standardized risk scoring and sub‑tier mapping that let BT Sourced react within 24 hours to the 2022 China floods, mapped half of Tier 2/3 manufacturing sites and automated millions of data points into one view—improving response times, enabling proactive action plans and embedding risk ownership across procurement teams.
