Archer Daniels Midland’s Project GEMINI Launches EMIS to Cultivate Global Compliance Assurance and Efficiency

Archer Daniels Midland faced fragmented, decentralized environmental information and rising regulatory demands across its global network of processing and storage facilities. To create a unified environmental management system (EMIS) capable of tracking, trending and reporting compliance and tasks enterprise-wide, Archer Daniels Midland approved Project GEMINI and selected Sphera’s Essential Suite from the Sphera Environmental Performance Solution to replace spreadsheets, legacy RMIS instances and ad hoc local systems.

Sphera implemented the Essential Suite as the backbone of GEMINI, piloting the EMIS at 7 representative sites and rolling out compliance, tasking, audit, air, water, waste and chemical inventory capabilities. The Sphera-powered solution standardized workflows across diverse facility types, demonstrated compliance support for European permits and U.S. regulations (Title V, TSCA, MACT), and set the stage for full deployment to thousands of users in 10 languages across 700+ facilities, replacing numerous local systems and improving visibility, accountability and reporting.
