How City Relay scaled its expense management system

City Relay, a London-based short-let property management company, struggled with messy spending processes: employees paid out of pocket or shared corporate cards, invoices went missing, and it was hard to assign costs to the right flat or client. To solve this, City Relay adopted Spendesk’s expense platform (including capped plastic and virtual cards, custom budgets and seats) to gain control and visibility over day-to-day purchases.

Spendesk implemented customised budgets, unlimited virtual/capped cards, project/flat codes in custom fields and a Xero integration so payments push straight into accounting. As a result, City Relay now manages 30 Spendesk seats, processes about 500 payments monthly, achieves 100% spend visibility, closes months 4x faster and saves roughly 3 days each month—making it easy to reconcile books and charge landlords for every expense.
