Birchbox, the Paris-based beauty subscription and retail company, faced slow, manual expense management using just a few corporate credit cards—finance spent significant time chasing receipts and reconciling month-end statements. In March 2016 Birchbox chose Spendesk and its spend-management platform (physical and virtual cards, receipt capture and approval workflows) to give teams easier access to payments while improving control and visibility.

Spendesk rolled out virtual cards for online purchases, physical cards for managers, one-click reconciliation, automated receipt reminders and exports to accounting. The result: Birchbox retrieves about 95% of invoices, recovers roughly 75% of previously missing receipts, and handles ~240 monthly payments far more efficiently—reducing expense reports, accelerating close, boosting employee autonomy and saving the finance team substantial time thanks to Spendesk’s automation and support.
