Norland University Hospital (NUS) - Customer Case Study

Norland University Hospital (NUS) in Sweden faced the challenge of meeting different ward communication needs: some units rely on central monitoring while increasingly mobile nursing teams needed alarms and monitoring on the move. To access Philips CareEvent and provide rugged, hospital‑cleanable handsets, NUS partnered with SpectraLink and began using Versity smartphones (first deployed in 2018).

SpectraLink’s Versity smartphones, integrated with Philips CareEvent, were rolled out in the Neonatal and Stroke units so alarms and monitoring reach nurses directly on their handsets. The rugged phones withstand frequent cleaning and harsh environments—NUS reports no device failures in four years (one handset was lost)—and staff report improved prioritization and workflow; the hospital is expanding the deployment and expects further gains as handset app features are enhanced.
