Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) needed a rugged, secure mobile communication solution that integrated seamlessly with their Skype for Business platform so clinicians, porters and ward staff could stay reachable while roaming across 130+ sites. After testing other vendors and finding poor voice quality, roaming and complex configuration, GMMH selected SpectraLink’s DECT mobile solution (including 7212 handsets and server options such as the 6500 and 400_IP_DECT) to meet their clinical mobility and security requirements.
SpectraLink implemented a Skype-for-Business-integrated DECT deployment that uses a single administration console, supports roaming and a lock‑down mode for restricted areas, and proved simple to install and scale. The Trust now uses roughly 80 handsets and 20 base stations with plans to expand, reporting improved staff productivity and morale, fewer interruptions to clinical rounds, reliable voice/roaming performance, and easier user administration thanks to SpectraLink’s solution.
