Dignity Health, a 40+-hospital healthcare system, needed to reduce noise and improve internal communications in its East Valley Arizona hospitals—particularly at the new Mercy Gilbert Medical Center—while ensuring a reliable, cost-effective wireless phone solution. To address missed calls, time wasted traveling between nurse stations and patient rooms, and the disruptive overhead paging system, Dignity Health selected Spectralink’s wireless telephone solution.
Spectralink deployed more than 200 wireless handsets, integrated the phones with Dignity Health’s PBX and an SDC IntelliSpeech system, and expanded integration with nurse-call and emergency notification systems. The Spectralink solution all but eliminated overhead paging, improved patient satisfaction, sped physician–nurse–pharmacy communication, reduced staff travel time, and delivered a speech-recognition success rate above 95%; the deployment is now being rolled out to additional Dignity Health facilities.
