Androscoggin Valley Hospital Places Patient Emergencies in Nurses’ Hands with Spectralink DECT Handsets and Dalcon Alert! System

Androscoggin Valley Hospital, a 25-bed facility in Berlin, N.H., faced an aging communications system that left staff unable to quickly locate patient alarms or reliably manage two-hour bed-turn schedules. To modernize alerts and mobile communications, the hospital deployed SpectraLink DECT handsets integrated with the Dalcon Alert! patient monitoring system.

SpectraLink worked with Dalcon to implement DECT handsets, a DECT Wireless Server, and the Dalcon Communications Manager so alarms and bedside calls display the alert type and room directly on nurses’ handsets and an overhead monitor. The SpectraLink solution (25 handsets deployed) delivers automated bed-turn reminders at 90 minutes and two hours, replaces pagers with full phone capability, and has made responses faster and more efficient by telling staff where and why alarms are sounding.
