Howard Hughes Corporation halves remediation reporting time with Specto Technology

Howard Hughes Corporation faced the challenge of remediating a polluted 1.1-acre brownfield site in Manhattan's Seaport Historic District. The project required excavating and disposing of 21,700 cubic yards of contaminated soil while complying with a mandated Community Air Monitoring Plan (CAMP) to monitor particulate matter, VOCs, and mercury vapor near sensitive receptors. The initial manual monitoring process was laborious and costly. Howard Hughes Corporation's consultant, Langan, partnered with Specto Technology for a solution.

Specto Technology implemented a simplified air monitoring solution using ten Aeroqual AQS 1 air quality stations integrated with Jerome® analyzers, all connected to the Aeroqual Cloud. This provided real-time data and automated reporting, enabling pre-emptive mitigation measures and keeping the community informed. The solution from Specto Technology reduced daily setup, breakdown, and reporting time by half, was crucial in completing the cleanup on time and within budget, and provided quality data that reassured the community.
