A Specright Case Study
Soylent, launched in 2013 as an affordable, sustainable meal-replacement brand, grew from ready-to-drink beverages into powders, bars, and energy drinks and needed better control over product and packaging documentation. Before partnering with Specright, critical specifications were scattered across hard drives, Dropbox, and Google Drive, making it hard to innovate, prevent mistakes, and manage quality at scale. To address this, Soylent implemented Specright’s Speciation Data Management platform as a centralized source of truth.
Using Specright, Soylent standardized specs for raw materials, ingredients, formulas, packaging, and finished goods, and deployed Specright’s Quality module to track lot codes, CAPAs, COAs, non-conformances, and customer complaints while managing label artwork and formula revisions with built‑in workflows. The result was a more proactive quality program: tying lot codes to specs improved traceability (quickly identifying a supplier equipment failure that caused a packaging issue), reduced allergen‑mislabeling risk by rolling up claims from ingredients to finished goods, supported GFSI compliance, and enabled sustainability work—what once took months to compile for an LCA can now be done in just a few clicks using Specright.
