A Speckle Case Study
Bollinger+Grohmann (B+G), a Germany-based engineering practice, faced a challenge with software interoperability within its vast tool ecosystem. The firm needed a solution to streamline dataflows for both internal and external design processes, but existing tools were either too complex for most staff, too limited in capabilities, or not developer-friendly enough. This hindered collaboration across their multidisciplinary teams.
Speckle was implemented as an open-source solution to power B+G's internal workflows. It provided an easy-to-use platform that removed complexity, allowing staff to focus more on design tasks. Speckle's developer-friendly environment enabled B+G to build custom tools, such as a web-based parameter tool and a design assistance system, which drastically reduced manual and tedious tasks. This led to improved collaboration, reduced human transfer steps, and a stronger company-wide commitment to their digitalisation strategy.
