University of Central Florida trains engineering students over 3 years with SPEC Innovations

The University of Central Florida, specifically its Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department, faced the challenge of preparing students with practical, industry-relevant systems engineering experience for complex projects like CubeSat design. To address this, they partnered with vendor SPEC Innovations and utilized their Innoslate MBSE platform as a core educational tool.

SPEC Innovations provided the solution through the Innoslate software, which students used to conduct model-based design reviews and update functional and physical architectures with full requirements traceability. The results were significant, as students successfully completed multiple major project reviews over a three-year period. Thanks to this implementation by SPEC Innovations, graduates now enter the workforce with hands-on experience in state-of-the-art agile processes, formal communication skills, and practical knowledge of enabling MBSE platforms.
