Case Study: Corangamite Catchment Management Authority improves climate change planning with Spatial Vision

A Spatial Vision Case Study

Preview of the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority Case Study

Spatial Vision and Natural Decisions were engaged by 7 of Victoria’s 10 CMAs to support NRM planning efforts in view of the likely impacts of climate change

The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority and other Victorian CMAs faced the challenge of planning for climate change impacts on natural assets amidst an overwhelming amount of climate information. They engaged Spatial Vision, which used its NRM Planning for Climate Change product to provide a logical and comprehensive spatial process for evaluating these future risks.

Spatial Vision implemented a solution that assessed natural assets based on their sensitivity, exposure, and adaptive capacity to anticipated climate changes across different timeframes. This framework provided the CMAs with clear vulnerability ratings and a decision support tool, which were used to update catchment plans and prioritize management actions. The results were exceptionally well-received, enabling informed decision-making and improved communication about climate risks.
