Embedding Climate Adaptation in Agriculture in North East Victoria

Spatial Vision worked with the North East Catchment Management Authority (North East CMA) to address the challenge of helping the agricultural sector and local government adapt to climate change. The region lacked effective tools for visualizing and interacting with climate change data, water balance considerations, and agricultural production predictions, which made long-term strategic planning difficult.

The solution developed by Spatial Vision was a suite of web-based spatial tools, including the Climate Explorer and Water Balance Explorer, built using ArcGIS Enterprise. These tools synthesized complex climate and agricultural data into an accessible format, allowing users to visualize impacts on productivity. The project significantly increased the capacity of local agriculture systems and communities to adapt to climatic changes and provided them with critical, regionally specific data to support future planning.
