Samin Information System Co., a leading Korean provider of shipbuilding accuracy control and erection forecasting simulation systems, needed a robust 3D modeling kernel with Boolean functionality and graphics infrastructure to build its 3D accuracy control and erection simulation software. To meet demanding Asian shipbuilding requirements and extract geometry and attribute data from Tribon design files, Samin turned to Spatial Corp’s 3D ACIS Modeler, 3D InterOp Suite, and HOOPS Application Framework.

Spatial Corp provided ACIS for geometry creation, clash detection, and block property calculations, 3D InterOp Suite for translating Tribon models into CATIA and other formats, and HOOPS to speed up high-performance 3D visualization development. With Spatial’s technology, Samin brought its EcoBLOCK and EcoOTS products to market in early 2008, becoming first to market in the region and helping shipbuilders reduce costs, accelerate development, and improve training and productivity; Samin also estimates 25–30% share in erection forecasting simulation and 13–14% in accuracy control systems.
