Case Study: St.George Bank improves IT architecture documentation and compliance with Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect

A Sparx Systems Case Study

Preview of the St.George Bank Case Study

St.George Bank - Customer Case Study

St.George Bank, Australia’s fifth largest retail bank, needed a graphical, intranet-based way to document its IT infrastructure for Basel II and other compliance needs, while also preserving system knowledge, supporting strategic planning, and helping train new staff. It chose Sparx Systems’ Enterprise Architect to create an easy-to-navigate model of applications, databases, hardware, data flows, and key personnel.

Sparx Systems implemented Enterprise Architect with a centralized SQL Server repository and HTML/Javascript publishing so the bank could “surf” the architecture on its intranet and drill into linked context diagrams and reports. The solution was rolled out in phases, then maintained through quarterly owner confirmations; the result was an enterprise-wide model that supports regulatory compliance, training, and ongoing BAU updates. Usage data showed strong adoption, with more than half of the bank’s solution and enterprise architects visiting the published output every business day for 3–7 minutes and 20–30 page views per visit.
