MeySen Academy is a well-established Japanese early childhood and EFL school that hires teachers and administrators who are passionate, creative, and bilingual in English and Japanese. Their challenge was screening many applicants quickly while ensuring candidates met minimum qualifications and fit the school’s culture without wasting time on unqualified in-person interviews.
They introduced Spark Hire’s video interviewing as the first screening step after online applications, sending out interview links and using internal rating tools to evaluate responses. Of the interviews sent, 59 were completed (a 78% completion rate), candidates scoring 3+ stars advanced to face-to-face interviews, and the academy ultimately hired 13 qualified, cultural-fit applicants while significantly reducing time spent on unqualified candidates.
