Case Study: COEC achieves 25% energy cost savings with Spacewell Energy

The College of Dentists and Stomatologists of Catalonia saved 25% on energy bill in its first year

COEC, the College of Dentistry and Stomatology of Catalonia, needed to better manage a 6,000 m² office building with mixed uses, high heating demand, and underused air conditioning. Working with Spacewell Energy’s DEXMA Platform through partner JustaEnergía, COEC sought a way to monitor consumption in real time and uncover energy-saving opportunities across its facilities.

Spacewell Energy implemented cloud-based monitoring and analysis for HVAC, parking lot lighting, and other building loads, then optimized temperature setpoints, equipment schedules, and lighting controls. The project cut parking lot energy use by 58%, reduced building consumption by 22% during active hours, and delivered 97,600 kWh in annual energy reduction and €18,000 in annual savings, equal to a 25% drop in the energy bill with a 5.5-month ROI.
