Rey Juan Carlos University, a large Madrid-based institution with five campuses, 52 buildings, nearly 2,000 employees and 45,000 students, needed better tools to monitor energy use across its sites. To support its sustainability goals and ISO 50001 certification efforts, the university turned to Spacewell Energy’s Dexma Platform to improve energy management and track consumption more reliably.

Spacewell Energy implemented the Dexma Platform in phases, centralizing data, enabling baselines, M&V, anomaly detection, tariff analysis and data integration from systems like BMS and SCADA. As a result, Rey Juan Carlos University achieved close to 40% energy savings since 2011 and became the first university in Spain to obtain ISO 50001 certification.
