Case Study: NIRAS achieves 8% electricity and 6% heat savings with Spacewell Energy

Frederiksberg Municipality faced high energy use in public buildings and inconsistent meter data that hid waste and blocked targeted savings. To address this, the municipality worked with NIRAS and adopted the Spacewell Energy Platform as the vendor solution to centralize readings, analytics and alerts for heating, water and electricity.

Using Spacewell (configured and deployed via NIRAS), the project added ~1,000 meters (≈600 electricity, 200 water, 200 heating), enabled remote hourly readings, set thresholds/alerts and established building benchmarks. The Spacewell Energy Platform is now used daily to detect anomalies, reduce standby and repair waste (e.g., broken pipes), and has driven measurable savings of about 8% electricity and 6% heat for the municipality.
