How to Run Successful Energy Efficiency Plans in Sports Centres

Centre Atlètic Laietania, a large sports club with three buildings and extensive pools, courts, and fitness facilities, faced high energy and utility costs across multiple electricity and gas supplies. To better manage consumption and identify savings opportunities, it worked with Spacewell Energy, using the DEXMA Platform as part of an energy efficiency project.

Spacewell Energy helped implement detailed energy monitoring and tariff optimization, installing meters and analyzing consumption by zone, device, and source to detect inefficiencies and anomalies. The project led to boiler replacement, operating-time adjustments, and other efficiency measures, delivering €76,348 in annual savings and a 31% reduction in consolidated costs in the first year, with the new boiler paying back in about half a year.
