Case Study: Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya improves indoor air quality with Spacewell Energy

Air Quality Improvement in the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC)

Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya faced the challenge of protecting students and staff during the pandemic by improving indoor air quality across its campuses. It needed an automated, easy-to-use monitoring system to track CO2 and other conditions, centralize data, and make information accessible to the university community, so it selected Spacewell Energy and its Dexma Platform.

Spacewell Energy implemented a network of 850 sensors integrated with the Dexma Platform across UPC’s buildings and campuses. The solution improved ventilation and air-exchange management, helped identify temperature and energy-saving opportunities, and supported open, transparent access to data; as a result, indoor air quality was significantly improved and the pilot launched during entrance exams was a success, providing users with a high level of safety.
