Case Study: NREP strengthens sustainable urban development with Spacemaker AI planning tools

Strengthening digitalization in urban development

NREP, a leading real estate investor and developer in the Nordics, wanted to strengthen its digitalization efforts and find better ways to plan and design more customer-centric, efficient, and sustainable urban environments across the region. To support this challenge, NREP expanded its partnership with Spacemaker and began using its AI-based planning and design tool in Finland, building on earlier rollouts in Sweden and Denmark.

Spacemaker helped NREP quickly analyze architects’ proposals, generate improved building-volume suggestions, and evaluate key factors such as noise, sun, daylight, views, and area efficiency. The solution supported smarter, data-driven urban design, including the UN17 Village project in Copenhagen, where courtyard sunshine increased from none to just over 6 hours and proposals that failed to meet view and daylight requirements were eliminated.
