Steen & Strøm and Storebrand used Spacemaker on their Økern Sentrum urban development project in Oslo, a large mixed-use site that needed to be reworked after the municipality required two water streams to be reopened through the plot. The team had to adapt streets, plazas, and building volumes quickly while preserving the project’s residential and commercial qualities.

Using Spacemaker as a single source of truth in a two-day workshop, the cross-disciplinary team iterated on the masterplan, ran instant analyses, and tested design alternatives for daylight, noise, wind, and outdoor areas. The result was a stronger proposal with residential areas with low daylight access reduced by 51% and noisiest residential facade areas reduced by 10%, while also increasing commercial area and enabling efficient integration of the streams and better public spaces.
