Wright State University, a public Ohio university with about 11,000 students, 23 buildings and roughly 3 million square feet of space, faced a “reporting nightmare” as state-required facility reporting was split between departments and relied on a disconnected 30‑page annual survey that produced increasingly inaccurate data. To address declining data quality, the university turned to SpaceIQ and its Archibus IWMS to centralize and automate space, asset and occupancy information.

SpaceIQ deployed Archibus modules—including Space & Inventory Performance, Enterprise Move Management, Personnel & Occupancy and Environmental & Health & Safety—to validate and organize historical survey data, automate moves and tie employee records to spaces. The effort eliminated the 30‑page annual survey per department, produced two years of validated space data, supported consolidation of vacant space as the university reduced colleges from seven to four, and improved the accuracy and timeliness of State of Ohio reporting while reducing burden on the five‑person facilities team.
