University of New South Wales Achieves Operational Excellence Goals with Archibus

The University of New South Wales, responsible for a 139-acre campus with 222 buildings and more than 7.75M square feet, faced fragmented facilities data, multiple standalone systems and heavy reliance on Excel spreadsheets that hindered operational excellence. To consolidate data, automate processes and improve facilities management, the university implemented Archibus (a SpaceIQ product) as its centralized facilities information and project information management platform.

SpaceIQ delivered a multi-phase Archibus rollout with web and mobile applications, streamlined SLAs (On Demand Work and Preventive Maintenance), custom workflows and a PIMS integrated with PeopleSoft. As a result, the university recovered $500,000 in reactive maintenance costs, completed annual space audits in two weeks, reduced manually logged service calls from 53% to 26%, and now handles ~25,000 annual reactive and 54,000 preventive work orders (combined billing ~$11M); Archibus also tracks 46,500 assets (replacement value $250M) and supports $284M in capital project value.
