National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Delivers Asset Management Results

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) manages a sprawling real estate portfolio—three regional centers, 17 buildings, 2.25 million square feet, some 5,000 occupants and more than 100,000 system furniture assets—but faced fragmented legacy systems, inconsistent space and asset standards, inaccurate data, and poor reporting for occupancy and inventory planning. To address these issues NOAA selected Archibus, a SpaceIQ product, to replace multiple CMMS platforms with a single enterprise asset and space management solution.

SpaceIQ implemented web-based Archibus applications and mobile tools—including Space Management, Building Operations, Telecommunications & Cable Management, and Cost Administration—consolidating data from two legacy systems, tagging and linking about 3,000 equipment and telecom assets to preventive maintenance, and establishing three regional help desks. The Archibus deployment delivered unified workflows, system-wide centralized reporting, improved FRPP compliance under Executive Order 13327, automated cost and lease management, and a clear foundation for future barcoding, QR coding, and tablet-based surveys.
