Case Study: Wuhan University achieves consolidated space data and streamlined facility management with SpaceIQ

A SpaceIQ Case Study

Preview of the Wuhan University Case Study

How a University Simplified the Management of a Massive Campus

Wuhan University, one of China’s top-ten universities with 55,000 students, 38 colleges and 991 buildings (~26 million sq ft), faced fragmented, paper- and CAD-based space and facilities records after merging four institutions. To consolidate space data, drawings and improve reporting and chargebacks, Wuhan University selected SpaceIQ’s Archibus web-based Space Inventory & Performance and Service Desk applications.

SpaceIQ implemented Archibus—including Overlay with Design Management for AutoCAD & Revit and Web Central—in a six-month rollout, importing legacy CorelDRAW drawings into AutoCAD and creating a single, accessible space data repository. The solution centralized building drawings, standardized room categories, captured 960 of 991 buildings to date, enabled Space Standard Area (SSA) calculations for accurate college/department chargebacks, and delivered fixed-format reporting for the Ministry of Education, resulting in consolidated access, streamlined compliance reporting, and more accurate chargebacks.
