A SpaceIQ Case Study
Duke University Medical Center and Health System (DUHS) faced fragmented space-tracking across hospitals, departments, and homegrown systems, making it hard to produce a single accurate inventory for planners, accountants, and school leaders across roughly 12M square feet and 400 buildings. SpaceIQ provided a Space Management solution (implemented via the Archibus-based platform and a custom Space Tracking and Reporting — STAR — web app) to address this institutional data inconsistency.
SpaceIQ implemented an integrated Archibus-backed database and the STAR web application to unify existing tables, add Duke-specific data, and let department administrators edit and split rooms and assign uses. The result was a single authoritative source of space data used for indirect-cost recovery, Medicare/Medicaid reporting, budgeting, cost allocation and dollars-per-square-foot analysis—giving Duke increased confidence in its numbers, easier reporting, and better planning across the entire campus. SpaceIQ’s approach turned multiple “shadow” systems into one trusted dataset for the university.
