Carnegie Mellon University - Customer Case Study

Carnegie Mellon University needed a way to link its telecommunications inventory to CAD drawings and give campus users self-service access to up-to-date telecom information. Working with SpaceIQ, the university deployed Archibus Telecommunications & Cable Management, the Archibus Overlay for AutoCAD with Design Management, and Archibus Web Central to replace manual Rich Text drawings and provide a web-based, field-updatable telecom application.

SpaceIQ’s implementation used the Archibus tools to capture and overlay telecom faceplate and jack data onto AutoCAD floor plans, publish DWF drawings via Web Central, and train staff to maintain the system. The project surveyed roughly 4,200 faceplates across ~4M square feet, enabled entire floors to be completed in hours, produced cleaner, more accurate CAD drawings, reduced manual effort for locating networks, and increased productivity without extensive training — all accessible to users through the web-based Archibus views delivered by SpaceIQ.
