Calgary Schools Bring Efficiency To $1B Budget

The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) manages a $1 billion operating budget across roughly 225 schools, 15 million square feet, and more than 107,000 students, and faced fragmented systems, slow paper-based workflows, and limited facilities visibility. To modernize operations, CBE deployed a data-driven integrated workplace management approach using Archibus and Web Central, supported by SpaceIQ, to consolidate rogue databases and standardize processes.

SpaceIQ helped implement online space drawings, CAD standards, hazardous-material inventories, bar-coded assets, Archibus dashboards, the Service Desk, and energy management integrations, putting principals and first responders on a common platform. The changes cut work-order turnaround from up to three-and-a-half weeks to about three days, enabled online space-utilization surveys, integrated room booking with the City of Calgary, and improved reporting and service delivery across the district.
