Rural Local Government Organization Uses SP Business Suite to Improve Communication and Collaboration Among Staff

Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board (DSB), a rural municipal service organization with 210 staff serving 18 municipalities across Northern Ontario, needed a single, budget-friendly intranet to unify communications, replace paper processes, and improve collaboration across a sparsely populated region. After moving to Office 365, the DSB selected SP Marketplace and its SP Business Suite (including SP Intranet 365) to deliver a common employee portal and departmental sites.

SP Marketplace implemented SP Business Suite to convert paper forms to electronic workflows, centralize departmental portals, automate alerts and permissions, and provide delivery confirmations—using DSB’s existing Office 365 with no added hardware. The result was faster, consistent communications, easy-to-customize forms, daily summary notifications, and quick ROI measured in mere months; staff report they can now reliably find needed information in SharePoint.
