Case Study: a large global bank minimizes credit risk with S&P Global Market Intelligence

A S&P Global Case Study

Preview of the Large Global Bank Case Study

RatingsXpress® Provides the Data a Bank Needs to Develop Internal Ratings-Based Models

S&P Global worked with a large global bank whose Asia-based credit risk modelling team needed stronger data to support its internal ratings-based (AIRB) credit risk models. The bank wanted additional default, recovery, macroeconomic, and financial institution data to fill gaps, validate internal estimates, and better assess correspondent banking relationships across more than 150 markets.

S&P Global provided CreditPro, the Market Intelligence platform, and Xpressfeed to deliver default, transition, recovery, and financial data through an efficient feed into the bank’s internal systems, with Excel templates that could be automatically refreshed. As a result, the team could validate internal ratings against external benchmarks and strengthen loss given default estimates, improving the quality of its AIRB modelling and capital adequacy decisions.
