Case Study: a large international bank minimizes trade finance risk with S&P Global’s Panjiva Supply Chain Intelligence

A S&P Global Case Study

Preview of the Leading Bank Case Study

Minimizing Risk at a Bank with a Trade Intelligence Platform

S&P Global worked with Leading Bank, a large international bank, to help its Asian-based Financial Crime Compliance surveillance and operations team reduce trade finance risk. The team needed a better way to screen for trade-based money laundering, sanctioned commodities, companies, and countries, while replacing manual research on websites and through port authorities with faster access to import and export data, company profiles, alerts, and shipment reports.

S&P Global’s Panjiva Supply Chain Intelligence platform was implemented to provide global trade transaction data, searchable shipment records, alerts for new activity, dashboards, and detailed reporting. The solution helped the bank automate data gathering, speed up transaction screening, gain deeper visibility into suppliers and buyers, and improve productivity while reducing manual errors; the case study does not provide a quantified financial or operational impact.
