Non-Profit Community Health System Reshaping Virtualized Healthcare with XtremIO

Non-Profit Community Health System needed a better way to support 650 physician desktops across neighborhood clinics while managing performance, availability, and cost in its virtual desktop environment. Working with Sovereign Systems, the health system evaluated options to expand VDI beyond its existing EMC VMAX 20K infrastructure and looked for a more affordable solid-state storage approach, ultimately considering EMC XtremIO.

Sovereign Systems implemented two 10 TB XtremIO X-Brick arrays to support the VDI environment, simplifying storage management and improving performance. The results were significant: desktop deployment time dropped from 30 minutes to less than a second, the organization cut costs by more than half versus upgrading VMAX production and DR systems, and it began planning to expand XtremIO further and move away from VMAX altogether.
