A Soutron Case Study
Marx Memorial Library & Workers’ School, a London-based charity with a world-class archive on Socialism, Marxism, revolutionary struggles and the trade union movement, needed a better way to make its vast and diverse collections accessible online. Previously, online access was limited to only a small part of the book catalogue, leaving books, periodicals, newspapers, photographs, posters and monographs difficult to search and use.
Soutron implemented its digital archive solution and online search portal, extending the existing Soutron Library System to include forty previously uncatalogued collections. The fully responsive portal now lets users search across all collections, browse materials more easily, and support volunteer cataloguing and bibliographic record creation; as a result, reading room demand has grown and the library is better positioned for future funding. Soutron also provided responsive support to help integrate the portal with the library’s website.
