Sharp HealthCare expands 10,000 SF emergency department with Southland Industries

Sharp HealthCare required a significant expansion and redesign of the emergency room at its Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center to serve a growing population, all while needing to minimize disruption to ongoing hospital operations. Southland Industries provided design-build mechanical and plumbing services to meet this challenge.

Southland implemented a two-phase construction plan that allowed the emergency department to remain fully operational. Their solution included installing a new outside air handler with a heat recovery system. The vendor successfully completed the project ahead of schedule, increased the bed count beyond original requirements, and delivered improved indoor air quality and increased energy efficiency.
