A Southland Industries Case Study
The San Francisco Department of Public Works faced the challenge of expanding and improving the Moscone Center, the city's largest convention center, while keeping the existing facility fully operational without canceling any events. They engaged Southland Industries to provide design-assist expertise for the project's mechanical systems and building automation controls.
Southland implemented a staggered work plan to replace the convention center's controls without disruption and engineered a custom rainwater harvesting and water treatment system. This innovative solution helped the client capture and reuse over 15 million gallons of water annually and achieve LEED Platinum certification, the highest score for a convention center worldwide. The project's success led to an ongoing service agreement and further projects for Southland.
