McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center nearly doubles its facility with Southland Industries

McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center sought to nearly double its facility size and renovate existing space to enhance community healthcare, all while requiring the hospital to remain fully operational during construction. Southland Industries was engaged to provide comprehensive mechanical, plumbing, and medical gas piping services for this complex expansion and renovation project.

Southland's solution involved meticulous planning and innovative techniques, such as constructing a new central energy plant around the existing one, to sequentially replace critical systems without disruption. The vendor successfully delivered full mechanical services for the 153,000 square foot addition, which added patient beds and operating rooms and doubled the emergency department size, installing extensive new infrastructure including miles of piping and major new HVAC equipment.
