A Southland Industries Case Study
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) faced the challenge of consolidating and protecting its physical records from 265 worldwide locations into a single, secure, and efficient facility. To meet this need, Southland Industries provided design-build mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and DDC control services for the new Central Records Complex.
Southland Industries implemented a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient solution that included sustainable mechanical and electrical systems with a high degree of resilience. The design incorporated an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) supported by fabric ductwork and met stringent National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) certification requirements. Southland completed the project a week early and within budget, resulting in a LEED Gold facility that has won multiple awards for design excellence.
