A Southland Industries Case Study
The customer, an anonymized client, required the construction of a new 800,000 square foot, 80 MW data center campus in Los Lunas, New Mexico. Southland Industries was engaged to provide mechanical, plumbing, and piping services under a design-assist delivery model, with the challenge of accommodating an evolving design while ensuring effective communication and cost control.
Southland implemented a solution featuring dedicated cooling for core spaces and a direct evaporative strategy for the data halls. They utilized the Autodesk Revit platform and BIM 360 Docs for design, coordination, and quality processes. By partnering with local fabricators, Southland mitigated manpower risks and supported the local economy. The project was successfully completed in August 2019, meeting the client's needs through rigorous planning and forecasting.
