Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate worked with SourceTrace to support its cocoa sustainability efforts across Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, and Ghana. The company needed a digital way to monitor farms and farmers across multiple countries, collect standardized data in local languages, maintain a centralized repository for reporting, and track origin data for customers.

SourceTrace implemented its monitoring and evaluation solution and mobile data collection tools to digitize 240,000 farmers and gather more than 1.2 million surveys over three and a half years with 2,700+ data collectors. The platform centralized farm, farmer, and community data, enabled GPS-based mapping of certified farm areas and social infrastructure, and improved reporting, transparency, and efforts to reduce deforestation and child labor in the cocoa supply chain.
