Thrift+ reduces unit costs by 11.5% with Sourceful

Thrift+, a secondhand fashion marketplace and B Corp, faced challenges with their packaging supplier, including poor communication and misprinted materials. They also wanted to switch from virgin plastic to more sustainable packaging without increasing costs or compromising function. They partnered with vendor Sourceful for a solution involving recycled mailing bags and expandable paper mailer bags.

Sourceful developed custom LDPE recycled mailer bags made from 98% recycled plastic, which were recyclable at collection points. Through testing, they optimized the material thickness to 80 microns for durability and a lower carbon footprint. As a result, Thrift+ achieved more sustainable, branded packaging that aligned with its mission. Sourceful's platform also helped streamline operations, and the collaboration led to an 11.5% reduction in unit costs for Thrift+.
