Universal Electric Corporation, a Pennsylvania-based maker of commercial-strength electrical power distribution products, struggled with manual purchase order (PO) processes: POs with hundreds of parts were sent around the world without confirmation, acknowledgements were easily missed, parts delayed, and buyers’ time was consumed by tracking and spreadsheets. To solve this, UEC adopted SourceDay’s purchase order management application to gain better control and visibility over its supplier communications and PO data.
SourceDay centralized all PO data for buyers and vendors, automated acknowledgements, email notifications and promise dates, and integrated with UEC’s ERP (Infor CloudSuite Industrial - Syteline) so accepted changes update the system automatically. The result: buyers have a single dashboard for POs (handling a steady flow of 1,400–1,500 PO lines), significantly reduced time spent confirming acknowledgements, minimized the risk of missed acknowledgements and late parts, improved vendor communication, and increased data accuracy and confidence.
