City of Springfield cleans 55+ blocks with SoundThinking

The City of Springfield partnered with SoundThinking to combat gun violence using a public health approach. The city's challenge was to effectively deploy resources to reduce gun violence and address community trauma. To meet this challenge, they utilized SoundThinking's Data for Good program, which leverages data from the ShotSpotter and ResourceRouter services.

SoundThinking's solution provided actionable data that identified high-risk areas, enabling the city to strategically target its outreach and intervention efforts. This data-driven approach facilitated a collaborative initiative that cleaned over 55 city blocks, conducted door-to-door outreach to more than 85 residents, and engaged over 35 organizations to address community needs. According to Springfield's Chief of Police, the program helped show vulnerable residents that the community cares and is willing to provide needed services.
