Soter Analytics collaborate with St John of God Subiaco Hospital (SJGSH) to help prevent employee spine and shoulder injuries using AI and wearable devices

St John of God Subiaco Hospital, a 578-bed private hospital in Perth, Western Australia, wanted a better way to keep employees safe from spine and shoulder injuries caused by manual handling. Working with Soter Analytics, the hospital looked for a solution that could reduce the need for staff to leave the job for training while still improving awareness and behaviour around hazardous movements.

Soter Analytics implemented the SoterCoach wearable solution, combining a clip-on device, mobile app, and management dashboard to provide real-time feedback, in-situ microlearning, and personalised movement tracking. The program improved awareness and safer movement across all risk groups, helped identify hazard patterns such as back twisting and pushing/pulling, and gave management clear visibility into risk data, supporting safer work practices and potential cost savings from fewer injuries and less training downtime.
