A Sortly Case Study
PowellsWood, a 40-acre non-profit garden just south of Seattle, faced a broken plant inventory after a storm erased years of records and a patchwork Word/Excel system. Needing an affordable, multi-user solution that non‑technical staff and visitors could use, PowellsWood chose Sortly’s visual inventory and asset-tracking system to regain control of thousands of trees, shrubs, and perennials.
Sortly was implemented using tag-based classification, photos, location fields and read-only visitor access on iPads, letting staff instantly search by color, species, or location and preventing accidental edits with permission controls. The result: faster plant identification on tours, improved visitor experience, and significant time and resource savings for the garden—benefits PowellsWood attributes directly to Sortly’s simple, multi-user inventory platform.
