Abbeyfield launches mobile friendly internal hub with Engage intranet

Abbeyfield, a UK charity providing housing and care across roughly 500 homes with about 5,000 staff and volunteers, needed a modern, mobile-friendly intranet after its in-house system proved unintuitive, hard to search, and reliant on shared logins. As part of a broader internal communications review, Abbeyfield selected Sorce’s Engage intranet to replace the old platform and address search, mobile access, document management and usability issues.

Sorce implemented Engage as “Abbeyfield Connect,” delivering improved search, a mobile app for remote workers, streamlined document management with version control, a revamped contact directory with approval workflows, and password self-service. Launched December 2019, the intranet drove higher content engagement (including daily COVID updates and video briefings), rolled out to non-desk staff, and produced significant operational efficiency savings by reducing time spent locating documents—making Sorce’s solution a central communications hub for Abbeyfield.
